After treatment, fruit were stored in ethylene free (i.e. air containing < 0.005 µL L-1) or 0.1 µL L-1 ethylene at 20 °C and 100% RH. The results showed that UV-C treatment delayed skin degreening and reduced endogenous ethylene production compared to untreated control fruit, however these effects reduced over the storage time. As expected, 1-MCP inhibited ethylene production, reduced calyx abscission and retained peel greenness during the storage. Both of the combination treatments, 1-MCP + UV-C and UV-C + 1-MCP reduced endogenous ethylene production and delayed skin yellowing. In all treatments, UV-C and 1-MCP resulted in lower fruit respiration rates than untreated control fruit, however this effect diminished during 7 and 14 days storage for fruits stored in air and 0.1 µL L-1 ethylene atmosphere, respectively. There was no difference in weight loss, SSC, TA and SSC/TA ratio between the treatments and storage conditions. The results suggest that a pre-storage UV-C treatment, followed by storage at low level of ethylene improves the quality of limes, with the additional improvement when combined with 1-MCP treatment prior or after UV-C irradiation.]]> Wed 24 Jul 2024 11:44:56 AEST ]]> Nasopharyngeal reflexes: role of brain monoamines in central integration: a review https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12711 Wed 24 Jul 2013 22:24:45 AEST ]]> Modified clays alter diversity and respiration profile of microorganisms in long-term hydrocarbon and metal co-contaminated soil https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:40951 Wed 20 Jul 2022 15:22:13 AEST ]]> Different patterns of respiration in rat lines selectively bred for high or low anxiety https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15019 Wed 11 Apr 2018 09:41:23 AEST ]]> Respiration and emotion: how and where are they linked? https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16746 Wed 11 Apr 2018 09:23:44 AEST ]]> Audiovisual biofeedback guided breath-hold improves lung tumor position reproducibility and volume consistency https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:34428 Wed 10 Nov 2021 15:04:47 AEDT ]]> Decomposition of soil organic matter as affected by clay types, pedogenic oxides and plant residue addition rates https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38109 Wed 04 Aug 2021 09:52:45 AEST ]]> Continuous exposure to ethylene in the storage environment adversely affects 'Afourer' mandarin fruit quality https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43111 Tue 13 Sep 2022 13:43:24 AEST ]]> Comparison of hydrogen sulphide with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) to inhibit senescence of the leafy vegetable, pak choy https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43099 Tue 13 Sep 2022 12:40:25 AEST ]]> Multiple Amino Acids Inhibit Postharvest Senescence of Broccoli https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43875 Tue 04 Oct 2022 12:28:48 AEDT ]]> Clinical accuracy of the MedGemt indirect calorimeter for measuring resting energy expenditure in cancer patients https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:525 Thu 25 Jul 2013 09:10:31 AEST ]]> Wheat respiratory O-2 consumption falls with night warming alongside greater respiratory CO2 loss and reduced biomass https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46517 Thu 24 Nov 2022 16:04:25 AEDT ]]> Effects of hydrogen sulphide, nitric oxide and ethylene on postharvest deterioration of pak choy https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36817 Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis) that examined the effect of fumigation with hydrogen sulphide and nitric oxide and subsequent storage at 10°C in air with and without the addition of 0.1 µL L-1 ethylene. The higher salinity areas near the lower end of the estuary were most important for Eastern King Prawn, and marsh systems in the lower estuary were only important for the species where there was good connectivity with oceanic water. Areas along the estuary were important for juvenile School Prawn, especially marsh habitats, and relative abundance tended to increase with increasing distance along the estuary. Designation of effective juvenile habitat for School Prawn may have been affected by high fishing mortality in fished areas, but this requires further investigation. Salinity, depth, turbidity and distance along the estuary were all important indicators of prawn distribution. The implications of these patterns for current and future habitat rehabilitation in temperate Australia are discussed.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:44:32 AEDT ]]> Nasopharyngeal reflexes: integrative analysis of evoked respiratory and cardiovascular effects https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12693 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:16:54 AEDT ]]> Circulatory control in hypoxia by the sympathetic nerves and adrenal medulla https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12658 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:15:48 AEDT ]]> Temperature effect on carbon partitioning in two commercial cultivars of sugarcane https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11116 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:12:26 AEDT ]]> Isoflurane increases cardiorespiratory coordination in rats https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5912 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:46:47 AEDT ]]> Effect of respiration on heartbeat-evoked potentials during sleep in children with sleep-disordered breathing https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28164 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:36:35 AEDT ]]> Integrity of the dorsolateral periaqueductal grey is essential for the fight-or-flight response, but not the respiratory component of a defense reaction https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:24079 A agonist muscimol on respiration during stress and presentation of brief alerting stimuli in conscious unrestrained rats. However, blockade of the dlPAG reduced the amount of motor activity and concomitant high-frequency respiratory activity during restraint and the first 5 min of novelty stress.
